Author Study: Jack Prelutsky

Our school wanted us to be sure to incorporate more author studies.  This coincides with our standards, as we are expected to see if our students are able to draw conclusions and generalize about authors and their works.  One trimester I did an author study with Eve Bunting books and another trimester I did an author study with Patricia Polacco.  

I decided to add a poet to my author studies and settled on Jack Prelutsky!  He is a favorite of so many students and I own multiple copies of many of his books/collections.  I created this author's study to go along with making generalizations but it also goes along with comparing & contrasting, biographies, researching, etc.  It includes a Q&A biography with Jack Prelutsky (thanks to Scholastic) as well as a link to a video of Jack himself sharing information about himself!

This author study is something that I have used with my class (it was a huge hit) and I have just polished it up to share with other teachers.  I have shared it with my grade level team and not I am sharing it with other teachers in my TPT shop.  Check it out!
