Make it Monday: Fingerprint Vases {Parent and Para Gifts}

     I don't know about you, but I like to show my appreciation for those that help me get through my crazy days in third grade!  What's the saying?  Good help is hard to find?
     So when I have the opportunity to thank these wonderful people I take it!  Sometimes when I make out my list of people to thank right before the holidays or at the end of the school year, it can be pretty lengthy.  I am a teacher, so I don't want to break the bank. Here is an affordable project you can make to show your appreciation and once you buy the supplies initially, you can use them over and over.  I am going on 9 years with my supplies and still going strong!

Finger Print Vases

Materials:
-Glass Vases/Jars (mine cost $2.99 each)
-Glass Paint (I found mine at Walmart for $1.88 a bottle)
-Black Paint Marker
Directions:
1. Wash the vases to make sure they don't have dust/debris on them.
2. Put a squirt of each color glass paint on a plate.
3. Call over a few students at a time to dip their finger in the paint and put their fingerprint on the vase.  I hold the vase and help them make a nice finger print. Write their name under their fingerprint with the paint marker.
4. Wait until the paint is completely dry (overnight) and then use the paint marker to draw the details on your fish, turtles, crabs, birds, etc.
*I advise the recipients to hand wash only so that they paint doesn't wear off in the dishwasher*
      My students have given out my vases with flowers in them, with candy in them, and I have also given them out with some colored tissue paper in them. It depends on time and energy!
